With more people than ever before using the library—a record 17 million last year alone—your support helps the Library provide people with the resources they need to succeed and thrive. Empower our clients by providing one-on-one resume writing, practice interview, and online job application assistance. In this award-winning podcast, you will hear powerful stories from survivors and champions dedicated to eradicating violence against women in Nova Scotia. Every Chrysalis client is assigned to an employment specialist – your point of contact and source of support throughout our program. The program lasts three to six months, depending on the individual client’s level of need.

However, length of stay in the first phase of the program, residential living, generally ranges from 4 to 6 months. We believe in the right of women to determine their own path to a life free from violence and abuse. We do not find housing for women but we help women figure out how to find housing. If you are just starting out in your adoption journey, congratulations! Please take a look around our site, as many of your questions will be answered here.

Why support the Library?

For 40 years, we have been dedicated to serving individuals who are navigating barriers to the workforce find and retain employment. We’ve got a job to do – a job to address the homelessness crisis and barriers to the workforce by helping thousands of people each year. If you don’t know who your employment specialist is, please speak with the client services coordinator at the front desk.

Our Mission is to provide family-oriented treatment and recovery support for women with substance use disorders.

CHI provides adoption services to families in 26 counties throughout the state of California. Chrysalis House is a member of the California Association of Adoption Agencies (CAAA) and the National Council for Adoption (NCFA). It’s a collective movement aimed at empowering and uplifting our clients as a community – one donation and one month at a time. Chrysalis holds that successful addiction treatment for women must assess, define, and satisfy their needs in ways that do not involve drugs or alcohol. A day at Chrysalis House is spent in psycho-educational groups, therapy groups, and individual therapy.

To learn more about each facility, please see each individual page below. Values state what is important to us, serve as our guiding principles, and form the foundation for our culture. At Chrysalis, these values help us identify the specific capabilities needed in our staff and volunteers and how we should serve our community.

Support Your Library

Chrysalis House delivers residential treatment in a three-phased level system that facilitates the development of key skills and the achievement of milestones leading to graduation from the residential programming. Persons served move from more structured to less restrictive settings as they complete phases of the program. The persons served move from higher levels of intensity to lower levels as they stabilize and symptoms are reduced. Through individualized case management, an evolving job-readiness program, and by providing access to an array of supportive services, Chrysalis helps our clients overcome their barriers to reconnecting to the workforce. Chrysalis House Healthy Start (CHHS) serves Maryland residents who are pregnant or with one child under the age of three, and who have a history of substance use disorder or mental health issues. We provide public education sessions and information  about violence against women to individuals and organizations upon request.

The comprehensive early childhood education program is for ages birth through three. Helping women achieve the capacity to provide for themselves and their children is our focus. Continuing care is imperative and graduates are provided with support services on an ongoing basis and may always come back for assistance. Graduates are staying sober, working in jobs that support their families, earning their GEDs, living in their own homes, and giving back to their community as their lives come full circle. Family is inclusive of the supportive network of relatives and others whom the woman identifies as part of her family.

As closet space may be limited, do not bring more than two pairs of shoes or handbags. Bring sheets and pillowcases (twin bed), comforter or blanket, towels and wash cloths, personal hygiene supplies, and a 30 day supply of any medications you have been prescribed. If you are bringing a child with you, bring any necessary clothing, supplies, and equipment for the baby. Also, please bring a photo ID, food stamp card, and proof of insurance or other payor source (if any). Chrysalis House is a full-service, non-profit adoption agency that was founded in 1985.

At the time of this writing, Chrysalis had three out of five five-star ratings on Facebook.[1] “Its a great program with wonderful people. Its my favorite place,” Dalila wrote in the only piece of commentary to accompany these ratings. The single alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave Chrysalis four out of five stars for its accommodations and five stars for its meals and its cleanliness. After a period of orientation, you may have visitors although there are restrictions on the times that they may visit. Patients will be allowed to leave the facility for medical and other appointments. As patients make good progress in treatment they will be allowed hourly and/or overnight passes (up to 24 hours).

At Chrysalis House, we encourage you to gather information from various agencies before you decide which agency and which adoption program is right for your family. The process of adoption can be a long and difficult one; the agency you choose will be your support system through this journey, and it is important that you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. At Chrysalis House, we are passionate about increasing awareness about foster care and adoption and we are committed to providing accurate information to those who are interested.
